Hanapi Salim, Fatimah Syed Adnan, Syed Zulfadhli T Technology (General) Malaysia government has voluntarily pledged to reduce its carbon emission intensity in 2030 by 45% compared to the baseline set in the year 2005 as committed in a United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) – 21st Conference of Parties (COP21) United Nation Climate Change Conference Paris in December 2015. Based on the research and scientific data, the energy sector particularly electricity consumption is one of the major contributors to the increasing of carbon emission in Malaysia. According to the latest National Energy Balance (2018) report published by Energy Commission Malaysia, the commercial sector especially office buildings consume almost the highest electricity which is about 28% from 152,866 GWh Malaysia electricity consumption. To support the Malaysian government’s commitment to reduce the carbon emission intensity, one of the initiatives is an energy audit exercise. Energy audit exercise is a study and analysis on the energy consumption, energy apportioning, energy efficiency, energy waste, and energy-saving measures on the building energy usage. The ten years old commercial office building located at Cyber jaya, Selangor Darul Ehsan was selected to be a case study. The main objective of the study is to investigate and identify the building energy usage and energy losses in the building including the mechanical and electrical system. Furthermore, several recommendations were suggested to the building owner in such a way as to achieve a better Building Energy Index (BEI). 2023 Conference or Workshop Item PeerReviewed Azizul, Mohd.
