Description
Summary:The paper presents a frequency reconfigurable meander bowtie antenna for health monitoring application that operates at 2.3 GHz and 3.5 GHz (5G frequency band in Indonesia and Malaysia). The proposed antenna can be switched between the 5G frequency band using reed switches. The antenna is made of flexible materials, semi-transparent film as substrates of and shield-it fabric as radiating element. Parametric studies on the location of the slots and reed switch representation by copper strips are made to see the effects on the antenna performance. The results show that the resonant frequency of antenna can be switched between 2.3 GHz and 3.5 GHz with the bandwidth of 6.6 % and 12.4 %. The results are further verified by replacing the reed switches with copper strips. Other switching methods such as PIN diode and varactor diode which depends on the biasing circuit can also be implemented into the design.
