Electronics Nuclear engineering The traditional sectors in the power industry namely generation, transmission, and distribution are gradually being deregulated [1] as independent entities to accommodate competition in supplying electricity to the consumers with affordable price and reliability. However, deregulation will change many perspectives in traditional techniques and control of power system. One of the major requirements is to predetermine the value of Available Transfer Capability (ATC) in order to assist in the process of allowing or denying any transactions in the market environment. The North American Electric Reliability Council (NERC) defines [2] ATC as a measure of the transfer capability remaining in the physical transmission network at any instant for further commercial activity between a given pair of points over and above already committed uses.
