The surface states were monitored by XRD, IR, ammonia TPD, and measurement of catalytic activity for cyclohexane isomerization. All the modifications suppressed the hydrogen uptake. It was suggested that Lewis acid sites promote the hydogen uptake by stabilizing spiltover hydrogen atoms.
