Summary: | Due to industrial development and population growth, global demand for energy has increased enormously. The increased consumption of primary sources of energy such as coal, oil and natural gas has exerted a strong influence on the atmospheric environment. Among all of the alternative fuels, hydrogen offers the greatest potential benefits to energy supply and the environment. In the current study computational investigations of a turbulent asymmetric vortex flame is presented. This study has predicted lean and stoichiometry flammability limits for hydrogen. The three dimensional flow fields have been described using a computational methodology that implements the k−ε RNG turbulence model. The computational model is validated for reaction flow. The special hydrogen-air mixing concept eliminates the risk of flame flashback and enables operation with very low NOx emissions. |
