Summary:This paper highlights a proposed design of rubbish collecting system effective and efficient for cleaning up rubbish from rivers, canals and lakes, or known as inland waterways. The rubbish collecting system is specifically directed to application in highly maneuverable vessels equipped with means for picking up floating solid and liquid waste, storing waste on the vessel, and discharging the waste from the vessel to a storage area, either for ashore purpose or as garbage transporter. Analysis had been accomplished using Engineering Design Method to compare the present design of rubbish collecting systems, hence to propose suitable rubbish collecting system for the use of collecting rubbish in different nature of inland waterways.
