Description
Summary:This paper discusses the efforts, experiences and lessons learned by the School of Professional and Continuing Education (UTMSPACE) in the process of seeking accreditation from the Engineering Accreditation Council (EAC)). An overview of the EAC accreditation process and a timeline of significant events prior to the on-site visit at UTMSPACE by the EAC evaluation team is presented. The focus of this paper is the lessons learned during the years of preparation for the accreditation. Suggestions based on the EAC evaluation as well as enumeration of assets and liabilities of UTMSPACE during the preparation are included. Besides that, comparisons with other competitive partners are also presented and the analysis shows that UTMSPACE is currently the best centre of learning for part-time engineering courses in Malaysia.
