Description
Summary:This paper reports preliminary evaluation of polyaniline coated kenaf (KF-PANI) as conductive fiber in kenaf paper. KF-PANI was obtained via in situ polymerization method and followed by the incorporation into kenaf pulp in order to produce electrically conductive paper. The effect of KF-PANI loading (wt %) towards the properties of the resulting conductive paper were studied. Several test were conducted such as electrical conductivity, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy and tear test. It was found that the incorporation of conductive fibers increased the paper conductivity without significantly affecting its mechanical properties. The initial study showed promising results for near term applications.
