Description
Summary:A comprehensive and effective carbon emission reduction strategy for a region or country entails addressing both energy supply and energy demand sides covering electricity as well as thermal energy affecting carbon emissions. For stationary emission point sources, carbon is mainly emitted from power generation plants and combustion of fuels. Three key categories of measures to reduce carbon emissions from stationary point sources include:. 1.Supply management-Optimization of energy supply mix and loss reduction in energy supply2.Demand management-Increasing energy efficiency at the demand side3.End-of-pipe solution-Minimizing emissions through carbon reuse, demand and source manipulations, regeneration, and carbon emission offsetting from point sourcesThis chapter describes the supply and demand planning and management tools for carbon emission reduction from stationary point sources that cover the three aforementioned categories of measures.
