Summary: | This study discusses three important aspects of the development of waqf land, barriers and proposed solutions to some important organizations. Islam encourages endowment to generate economic activities of Muslim, but at present, the development of waqf land stunted when there are some difficulties while trying to develop it. Among the pitfalls are legal problems, financial problems and the problems of management and administration. The objectives of this study are to identify the challenges that exist for developers in the development of waqf properties and also, to study the system of waqf property development in Malaysia. This study was conducted using an expert interview method in which the parties that have been interviewed are the parties that has been involved in development of waqf land. To support the statement made by experts, this research also used document analysis. Based on the information given by experts, the result found is there are some major hurdles faced by developers to develop waqf land. The obstacles are from the legal, financial and physical aspects. Meanwhile, waqf land development model was obtained after some analysis was performed on the documents. Hopefully, this study can help stakeholders such as government, Majlis Agama Islam Negeri, developers and researchers to have better understanding about the problems present in development of waqf land. |
