Summary: | This study discusses about the Industrialised Building System or simply known as IBS. IBS is a modern construction system that replaces conventional building systems. In recent decades, the government seriously emphasized its use so that it can be applied in the construction sector in Malaysia. However, they are not many developers using IBS in their projects until today. Thus, this study discusses two important aspects namely the factors that hinder developers from adopting IBS and the factors that would encourage developers to use IBS. Meanwhile, the role of the CIDB has also been discussed in this study particularly on their strategies to encourage the use of IBS among developers. The study was carried out on to developers in the city of Johor Bahru. The results of this study found that there are several factors that caused developer’s not using the IBS in their projects namely. However, the results of this study have also managed the motivational factors that may be driving them to apply IBS in the construction sector today. The factors are at the end of this study simply shows that there is a relationship between the failure of developers using IBS with the drivers or motivations of developers in an effort to enhance the use of IBS among those in the construction sector in Malaysia. |
