Summary: | Degradation of the environment is the main concern at this time due to global environmental management are not sustainable. The threat of climate change is now causing a worsening environmental systems cannot function properly and often cause various unexpected disasters such as hurricanes, droughts, flooding and other geological disasters. Thus, a system should be ready to face the risk of disaster in order to create a sustainable society. This study aims to assess the resilience of the business community in terms of flood risk management, especially in Jalan Wong Ah Fook, which is located in the central area of the city of Johor Bahru. So, there are three objectives to achieve its objectives, which are (i) study the effects of flash floods on communities in the study area; (ii) identify the concept of resilience and actions business community to face the risk of flash floods in the study area; (iii) review actions taken by the authorities to implement flood mitigation measures in the study area. This study is a quantitative study that uses a case study approach. Accordingly, the study found that the resilience of communities, especially in the study area is still weak due to the lack of implementation of the concept of resilience at the community level and city management. Finally, the application of the concept of resilience should be addressed in every aspect, especially the environmental aspects to ensure that community are in the city liveable. |
