Summary:The leadership of school principals has a vital role in schools because it is used to define, formulate and incorporate personality and organizational values inclusive of humanity sources and cultures to achieve the aim of the organization of the school. Based on literature review, principals have not fully practiced independent work culture among their teachers. This study identified the influence of the personality values of school principals to ward cultural works encompassing attitude, discipline, work quality, and work communication of teachers. The study employed a mixed method design (concurrent design).For the quantitative data collection, 34 school principals and 295 teachers from senior high school (SMA), vocational high school (SMK) and, Islamic school (MAN) in Makassar, south Sulawesi, Indonesia were selected as samples. Purposive sampling was used to select 6 principals and 12 teachers of these schools for qualitative data collection. Quantitative data were collected using questionnaires consisting of demographic information, school principals’ personality values, and teachers’ work culture. The data were analyzed using linear regression. On the other hand, qualitative data from interviews and observations were analyzed using thematic analysis. The qualitative findings showed that the school principals emphasized personal honesty as the main element in performing their tasks as leaders of the schools. Quantitative finding revealed that there is a significant influence of personality value of school principals towards work culture, namely work attitude, discipline, quality, and communication of the teachers. Overall, this study concluded that there are significant influences of school principals’ values toward teachers’ work culture.
