Description
Summary:In order to complete the operations of addition and subtraction in mathematics, students need to have a solid grasp of the basic concepts of fractions. Therefore, students' conceptual and procedural understanding of the solution of addition and subtraction operations is important to ensure that students are able to master this concept. Therefore, a strong understanding of basic fractional concepts should be emphasized so that students have a balanced conceptual and procedural knowledge so that students can complete addition and subtraction operations without any conceptual error. This study was conducted to enhance the conceptual and procedural understanding of student mathematics in fractions by using the M-Fracto Kit. In addition, this study was conducted to identify students' understanding of the basic concepts of fractions. Finally, this study also looks at the effect of using the M-Fracto Kit on students' conceptual and procedural understanding of mathematics. Based on the findings, it is found that students make more mistakes when solving questions involving fractions than fractions involving fractions because they fail to understand the basic concepts of addition and subtraction. After the intervention, the percentage of misconceptions in addition and subtraction was reduced. It can be concluded that the intervention with the introduction of the M-Fracto Kit can assist students in improving their conceptual knowledge - knowledge of the basic concept of fractions and procedural understanding of fractional addition and subtraction operations
