Description
Summary:The current study seeks to identify the impediments preventing Palestinian women form the political involvement in Gaza Strip. In order to achieve the objective of the study, the researcher adopted the qualitative methodological approach, using historical method and interview with a purpose of collecting the required data. The seven semi-structured interviews have conducted with three Palestinian women leaders in the Palestinian women society "members int the Palestinian Legislative Council, Hamas Movement and Jabalia Municipality in the Gaza Strip" to complement qualitative results and provide better understanding of the different impediments in the context of women political participation. The findings revealed that there are many difficulties facing the Palestinian women's involvement in political lives such as; social, cultural, economic, legislative impediments. This study, however, concludes several recommendations, most notably is the need to compel the Palestinian political parties to execute the principle of political pluralism, giving Palestinian women's the rights according to the Palestinian constitutions, and exceed social and cultural difficulties that prevent political involvement of Palestinian women. This study can make a novel contribution, based on women involvement in the political life in the field of Political Sociology.
