Description
Summary:In this paper, dynamic analyses of Tension Leg Platform (TLP) using both frequency and time domain methods have been carried out as a rigid body. Linear Airy wave theory and Morison equation were used for the estimation of forces. Newmark Beta method was used for the time domain dynamic analysis. The responses due to random waves determined as Response Amplitude Operator (RAO) were compared in both the domains of analyses. The frequency domain results were found to be very much approximate as it could not take into account many nonlinearities. However, this method has potential to be used for preliminary design as it gave a good pattern of the motion responses. Keywords: Frequency & Time domain analysis, Tension Leg Platform, Response Amplitude Operator.
