A case study on two co-generated gas district cooling plants, one at University Technology PETRONAS (UTP), and the other at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), Malaysia were undertaken. Using twelve months data on chilled water produced for the year 2007 by the two plants, the equivalent amount of CO2 was calculated. Results from the study indicate that the steam absorption chillers of the plants saved 5,050 tons and 77,270 tons of CO2 emission for UTP and KLIA respectively. Whereas, CO2 contribution for electricity production at both locations by the gas turbines were 20,000 tons at UTP and 160,930 tons at KLIA throughout the year 2007. 2008-10-28 Conference or Workshop Item PeerReviewed application/pdf http://eprints.utp.edu.my/1867/1/ICCHT2008-Gilani_%28Fullpaper%29.pdf Syed Ihtsham-ul-Haq, Gilani and A Majid, M Amin and Rangkuti, Chalillullah (2008) Reduced CO2 Emission by Cogeneration Plants: A Case Study of two Co-generated Gas District Cooling Plants in Malaysia.
