Summary: | This paper presents the basic concept of remote monitoring and controlling of a reaction chamber via internet.
Remote controlling and monitoring of a reaction chamber via internet can be viewed in a very large aspect. In
this work, the focus is to build up a system with functional communication to control and monitor two outputs in
terms of ON and OFF only. The main objective of this work is to come out with a controller circuit which is
connected to a PC (host) via a serial port and to be able to be controlled and monitored by using other PCs
(client) via internet and intranet. The controller circuit will then be used to control and monitor a Rotary Vane
Pump which is connected to a reaction chamber that is used as a miniature plant. The proposed solution is
aimed to offer a low cost and reliable system for monitoring and controlling reaction chamber. The cores of the
research are the applications of electronic fundamental in circuit design, communication system in which
connecting the system via internet, and software development using C in delivering the prototype’s functionality.
The graphical user interface is designed using ActiveX tool provided in Microsoft Visual C++ to provide the
means of interfacing between the user and the PC through the utilization of remote monitoring and controlling
via internet. Upon completion, the system can be optimized and integrated with the miniature plant. |
