The objective of this stage is to establish the effect of electrical current on shear strength of the soil with and without surcharge. The results of the electroosmotic tests suggest that there were positive effects on the kaolinite soil samples. The second stage of this study involves kaolinite soil samples of various nominal sizes. The voltage and surcharge were kept constant. The results show a clear trend between particle sizes and shear strength of the soil. Higher shear strength was observed for smaller particle size.
