Mix Design of Foamed Concrete with MIRHA using Taguchi Method

This paper deliberates in the performance of foamed concrete containing cement replacement material namely Microwave Incinerated Rice Hush Ash (MIRHA). Mixes incorporating 0%, 5%, 10% and 15% MIRHA were prepared. The optimal mix design based on compressive strength was established. Taguchi method wi...

Description
Summary:This paper deliberates in the performance of foamed concrete containing cement replacement material namely Microwave Incinerated Rice Hush Ash (MIRHA). Mixes incorporating 0%, 5%, 10% and 15% MIRHA were prepared. The optimal mix design based on compressive strength was established. Taguchi method with L16(4^5) orthogonal array was adopted to determine the best possible mix design and the number of experiment and trial mixes to be conducted was minimized. The optimal MIRHA foamed concrete achieved met the load bearing strength requirement of 17 N/mm2.
