Description
Summary:Cooling load temperature difference (CLTD) method is widely used for calculations of cooling load in the design of air-conditioning systems. Manual calculations of the cooling load, even with the use of spreadsheet, are tedious since the peak-load time must be properly pre-determined. The use of database programming like Microsoft Access has however made the task faster and reliable. The calculations of cooling load using the CLTD method requires the use of various data from tables which are mainly from the ASHRAE Handbook. With the use of Microsoft Access, the information from various tables can be retrieved and manipulated with less hassle and minimum tendency to human errors. In this work, a database programming has been performed using Microsoft Access in which users are required to provide minimum information on the room construction materials and orientations. The program will first determine the room’s peak-load time using the database that has been stored during the programming, followed by the calculation of cooling load. The programming method presented is effective, relatively lower in cost and also user friendly.
