Description
Summary:The objective of this work is to investigate the performance of 5 wt% Fe and 5 wt% Ni supported on Zeolite β (BEA) for PKS gasification to hydrogen. The interaction of active metals and support on the structure, metals transition and reduction were characterized by physicochemical techniques such as BET, XRD and TPR. Steam gasification of PKS using BEA supported monometallic catalysts were investigated in a fixed-bed reactor to study the catalytic effects on gas composition produced. Fe/BEA at calcination temperature of 600ºC is the optimum choice of the catalyst for steam gasification of PKS. The high catalytic activity is attributed to its textural properties and reducibility. The catalytic activity decreased with increasing calcination temperature due to catalyst gglomeration.
