ASSESSMENT OF THE PALEOZOIC CLASTIC DEPOSITS OF SERI ISKANDER AS AN ELEMENT OF A HYDROCARBON SYSTEM AS POTENTIAL HYDROCARBON RESERVOIRS
The Clastic sequences outcropping at Seri Iskandar are part of the Paleozoic sedimentary sequences in Kinta Valley. Not much is known about this pre-Tertiary Clastic despite. the fact that, Hydrocarbon reserves have yet to be discovered in Paleozoic formations of Malaysia .Over the years, some effor...

Four outcrops were investigated with total beds Thickness 685 meters; these outcrops consist of alternating beds of sandstone, mudstone siltstone. Seri Iskander clastic deposits are mostly equivalent to the Kati beds, that described by Foo and dated as carboniferous to Permian age (Foo, 1990). It may presume that these beds of clastic could be deposited on the lower part of marine slope. Its considerable thickness and sand properties indicate that they have good potential to form reservoir. 2012-06-12 Conference or Workshop Item PeerReviewed application/msword http://eprints.utp.edu.my/8353/1/Hissein_ICIPEG_2012.docx Chow Weng Sum, Chow (2012) ASSESSMENT OF THE PALEOZOIC CLASTIC DEPOSITS OF SERI ISKANDER AS AN ELEMENT OF A HYDROCARBON SYSTEM AS POTENTIAL HYDROCARBON RESERVOIRS.
