Considering the favorable properties of ionic liquids and the disadvantages of the conventional organic solvents applied in absorption of CO2, using ILs to capture CO2 has attracted much attention. Current research showed CO2 have high solubility in the hydroxyl ammonium-based ionic liquids. In order to develop a novel process for absorption of CO2, it is necessary to have the knowledge of thermal stabilities of ionic liquids. Here, we present an account of our research into thermal stability of ammonium-based ionic liquids. Thermal Stability of three ammonium-based ionic liquids monoethanolammonium acetate (MEAmOAc), diethanolammonium acetate (DEAmOAc), and methyldiethanolammonium acetate (MDEAmOAc) at the temperatures ranging from 25 – 400 °C and isothermal stability at the temperature 40, 50, 60, 70 and 80 °C were determined. Result showed that these hydroxyl ammonium-based ionic liquids were having more thermal stability and, compared to alkanolamine MEA, DEA, and MDEA showed less mass lost. 2007-12 Conference or Workshop Item PeerReviewed application/pdf http://eprints.utp.edu.my/896/1/SOMChe-kiki.pdf Wilfred, Cecilia and Kurnia, Kiki (2007) THERMAL STABILITY OF HYDROXYL AMMONIUM-BASED IONIC LIQUIDS.
