Industrial Management Organizational commitment is one of the most important elements for an organization to achieve full efficiency and continue to be relevant in accordance to the objective of its establishment. Without doubt this also applies to an organization such as the Royal Malaysia Police (RMP), which is constantly being in touch with the public. The main focus of this research is on the level of organizational commitment among the rank and file members of the Kuala Lumpur Police Contingent. The police personnel involved in this study comprise those within the rank of Police Constable to Sub-Inspector. In addition, this study also examines whether there is a relationship between individual characteristics (gender, age, academic qualification, marital status, tenure, rank, ability) and organizational characteristics (leadership style, career advancement, workload, facilities provided) with the level of police personnel organizational commitment. A total of 454 respondents took part in this study. Data analyses were carried out using the SPSS ver.l0.0 package. The study found that only 54.9% of the Kuala Lumpur police personnel were in the high organizational commitment level. The Chi-square analysis found no relationship between individual characteristics (gender, academic qualification, marital status, rank) and organizational commitment of the police personnel. Results of Bivariate Correlation analyses also found no significant relationship between individual characteristics (age and tenure except for individual ability) with police personnel's organizational commitment. However all of the organizational characteristics were found to be significantly related (0.399 - 0.453) with the organizational commitment. This study thus concludes that organizational characteristics are the main factors in influencing the level of organizational commitment among Kuala Lumpur police personnel. Individual characteristics on the other hand do not have significant bearing on the level organizational commitment among Kuala Lumpur police personnel. 2001-12 Thesis NonPeerReviewed text en https://etd.uum.edu.my/240/1/Acryl_Sani_bin_Hj._Abdullah_Sani%2C_2001.pdf text en https://etd.uum.edu.my/240/2/a....Acryl_Sani_bin_Hj._Abdullah_Sani%2C_2001.pdf Acryl Sani, Abdullah Sani (2001) Tahap Komitmen Terhadap Organisasi : Satu Kajian Di Kalangan Anggota-anggota Polis Pangkat Rendah, Kontinjen Polis Kuala Lumpur.
