Summary: | This study aimed to identify the effects of involvement of teachers, principals’ support, teachers’ attitude on teachers’ commitment in low performance school in Kedah. This study used a survey to obtain data. The sample comprised a total of 273 teachers randomly selected from Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) low performance throughout the state. The questionnaire contains 75 items and has high reliability with Cronbach Alpha 0.94. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics and Multiple Regression Analysis. The findings showed the principals’ support in decision making at the high level and the involvement of teachers in low performance schools is at low level. While the level of teachers’ commitment in decision-making is at moderate level. Regression analysis shows that the principals’ support and teachers’ attitude have a significant relationship on the commitment of
teachers in low performance schools. This clearly illustrates those teachers in low performance schools show high commitment when they get encouragement from principals and having a positive attitude to participate in decision making process. Therefore, the change in the attitude and increase of principals’ support need to be given emphasis to increase the level of commitment of teachers in decision-making
in schools. |
