Summary: | Language that serves as a tool for communicating and expressing ideas and feelings is well-known among members of the community, even with the language as well as allowing people to express it in more creative and able to adapt based on the usage of context/situation. Indirectly, language users are smart in manipulating the vocabulary/lexical for one particular purpose
based on specific situations. The creativity arises because of the speakers and those who are opposed to speaking in social groups are differ in their social status. The difference in social status causes the differences in language usage between one group and another. This difference has somehow caused some language problems among the Malay community as well as other societies especially in the word call/greetings. This study aims to identify and describe anthropomorphism by taking the data from Malay films with thematic social issues. A total of eight films were used as data in this study by applying the “Who Speaks What Language to Who and When?”, the theoretical framework by Fishman (1965). The findings show that speakers use variety of anthropomorphism words as call//greeting form certain purposes with specific intentions and at specific places. |
