Summary:The unemployment problem has been a very observable phenomenon in Malaysia. This phenomenon may drive the students to start a business. The intention to involve in online business among university students is motivated by the flexibility of starting an online business and the increasing trends on buying via online. However, the decision to move beyond thought and action to involve in business also requires the right attitude and behaviour. Besides that, support from others, especially family members also plays an important role to encourage the students in starting a business.Therefore,this study attempts to examine the influence of personal attribute and family support on the intention to start an online business among UPSI’s students. By using quantitative approach with face-to-face survey, personal attributes and family support were found as significance factors towards intention to start-up online business. Self-confidence and good family support will encourage the students to take the challenge and face the risk in starting an online business.
