Summary: | This study was conducted to identify the level of awareness, knowledge and attitude among staff from Kangar Municipal Council, Perlis, Malaysia towards the implementation of Green Building in Perlis, Malaysia. In this study, researcher used purposeful sampling, a total of 120 respondents were selected during this study period. Data analysis such Pearson Correlation and T-Test were conducted on the data obtained. Findings (Correlation) shows that the value of r (118) = 0.227, p < 0.01. The findings of the study show that there are significant relationship between knowledge of MPK staff and level of their awareness towards the implementation of Green Building especially in Perlis, Malaysia. In Addition, the results of T-Test study (mean different) showed that t(118) = 0.37, p > 0.05. Thus, the findings of this study shows that there is no difference knowledge related to Green Building between male and female staff. Overall analysis, only a few divisions in Kangar Municipal Council were selected to fill the questionnaire
from which is 1) Department of Engineering, 2) Department of Planning and Development, 3) Department of Environmental Health and Licensing, 4 Department of Enforcement, 5) Department of Treasury, 6) Department of Valuation and Property
Management, 7) Department of Building and 8) Department of Community Development. The findings of the study show that the level of awareness, knowledge and attitude among staff of Kangar Municipal Council towards the implementation of Green Building still in the initial phase. Participation of the all parties as well as investors, developers and local authority in the activities and development undertaken is essential
in improving the effectiveness and success of the implementation of the concept of green
building in Perlis. The role of Kangar Municipal Council as the local authorities seemed so important in providing information in ensuring the successful implementation for the Green Building Program in northern area. |
