Summary: | Technology certainly has given a way to an improved lifestyle and contributed towards the growth of economies. Technology also has impacted the production process in manufacturing companies. However, the impact of technology on productivity improvement still become a debate among manufacturers as it also could give negative impact on productivity. Because of that, this study was conducted to explain the impact of technology on productivity improvement as well as to examine the productivity challenges faced by the company as an objective of the study. This study was conducted at manufacturing company based in Penang by interviewing the Personal Assistant to Managing Director of the company. From the interview, it is found that technology has positive impact on productivity. However, more study about the impact of using technology in productivity should be conducted as some companies have no preparation for technology maintenance and some of the previous studies said the product produced by using technology is artificial cannot be fully trusted. The finding of this study suggested that all companies have to use the latest technology in order to ensure that it will give a good impact on productivity improvement, maintain focus on productivity improvement and facilitate total productive maintenance. |
