Summary:Advances in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) have increased the use of internet, web pages and networking in education. These new developments have created a more flexible learning environment in terms of time, place, methodology and learning materials. Nowadays, computers and ICT application among teachers has attracted researchers’ attention that need to be considered and studied. This study was conducted to examine the types of ICT application among teachers, the level of computer skills and barriers in using computers and ICT and methods to overcome the problems. The sample of the is 57 teachers from two different rural schools in Kota Kuala Muda, Kedah. The instrument used in this research is a set of questionnaires. The data gathered was analyzed with the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) 25. The results of this study showed that the computer skills level among teachers was still at the average level. Teachers tend to use computer and ICT only for their personal usage and not for teaching and learning processes. Among the identified barriers in using computers and ICT were time factor, attitude factor, and facilities factor. Suggestions to overcome this barrier has also been included in this study.
