Summary:This survey was conducted to understand the employee recruitment and selection practice at selected firms in the manufacturing sector in Selangor. This study also looked at the importance of several criteria that have been identified at the managerial level employee selection in order to get high quality employee. A total of 57 sets of questionnaires have been returned from 150 that were mailed to the firms all over Selangor. The respondent was either a manager or an officer of the Human Resource Department at every selected firm. From the data analysis that had been done descriptively, a superficial view on the employee recruitment and selection practice in the manufacturing sector was given. This survey’s findings also revealed that the experience criterion is the utmost important element in the employee selection at the managerial level. In addition to that, appearance, demography (gender and academic qualification), and personality factors were among the criteria that are taken into consideration at the employee selection at the managerial level.
