Description
Summary:A numerical model using the 1D shallow water equations was developed for the simulation of long wave propagation and runup. The developed model is based on the Finite Volume Method (FVM) with an application of Godunov - type scheme of second order of accuracy. The model uses the HLL approximate Riemann solver for the determination of numerical fluxes at cell interfaces. The model was applied to the simulation of long wave propagation and runup on a plane beach and simulated results were compared with the published experimental data. The comparison shows that the present model has a powerof simulation of long wave propagation and runup on beaches.
