| Summary: | This proceedings is the newest of a series of books that have been edited by researchers to disseminate the results of their joint research activities car-ried out within CoreGRID, the only one Network of Excellence in Grid andP2P technologies funded by the EU6thFramework Programme. The mis-sion, assigned to CoreGRID by the European Commission (EC), was to builda research community in Europe to gather the expertise and the know-how ofresearchers in various research fields related to Grid and P2P computing into asingle entity. After fours years of existence, I am proud to say that CoreGRIDhas fully met its objectives as defined five years ago in the proposal submitted to the sixth Framework Programme funded by the European Union. CoreGRIDacts as the main portal providing researchers worldwide with the latest results from their European colleagues. It has established a solid research communitycovering various aspects in Grid research. After a period of four years funded by the EC, the network is now entering another phase of its existence: to besustainable for the years to come. This is the objective of the newly formedERCIM Working Group, that uses the same brand name - CoreGRID. Addi-tionally to Grid and P2P computing, this working group will also cover service computing. |
