Summary: | This study is an investigation of ways of adapting while-reading tasks in English 10 to improve reading ability of Grade-10 students at Yen Dinh 1 High School. The main purposes of the study are to find out: teachers’ and students’ attitudes towards while-reading tasks in English 10, to what extent teachers adapt the while-reading tasks to help the students comprehend the text better and then give some suggested solutions for teachers to stimulate students to learn reading and overcome the difficulties they cope with in teaching reading. The study consists of three parts. Part I, the introduction, states the rationale, aims, scope, design and methods of the research. Part II is divided into four chapters. Chapter 1 reviews theoretical background relating to reading and teaching reading skills and reading tasks. Chapter 2 presents the instrumentation and data collection. Chapter 3 is data analysis and discussion. Chapter 4 summarizes major findings and suggests some approaches for adapting while-reading tasks to teachers of English. Part III, the conclusion, points out some limitations and gives some suggestions for further study. |
