According to the theory, modality is analyzed as a system of type, polarity, orientation and value. Two remarks declaring Barack Obama‘s candidacy for presidents in 2008 and 2012 were investigated. The study firstly focused on the lexico-grammatical realizations of modality. Secondly, modal features denoted in the two selected political discourses were taken into consideration.
