Traditionally, metaphor is primarily considered as a decorative or ornamental device for
poetic or figurative language, but now, it is a part of everyday language and it also apprears
popularly in economic texts. The paper also clarifies that metaphor is necessary in
economics because (i) it helps economists persuade citizents to do certain economic
activities; and (ii) it is a rhetorical device for economists to explain abstract economic
concepts through old, known concepts. |
