The materials showed a typical lamellar structure and fibrous morphology. After treatment of sepiolite, the surface area of the solid is significantly improved while the material structure still remains. Both fresh and treated sepiolites were used as adsorbents for the adsorption of rhodamine B in water. In isothermal conditions, both samples exhibit a good ability to adsorb rhodamine B in water. Experimental results indicate that the adsorption of rhodamine B for sepiolite was fitted to the Langmuir and Freundlich adsorption models.
