In this thesis, I study the perceived benefits and risk of accounting outsourcing for foreign enterprises in Vietnam. The objective of thesis is to focus on foreign firms in Hanoi especially about Japanese firms and semi-structured interviews were used to gain to the conclusions. A significant bulk of the thesis is dedicated to the interviewees’ and writer’s perceptions about benefits and risks of accounting outsourcing implementation in Vietnam and solutions to solving those issues are drawn from interview answers. The interviewees believe that accounting outsourcing in particular as well as outsourcing services in general in the near future could become a new industry and may help saving cost, enhances productivity, focus on business core and minimize risk for firm. However, the accounting professions and foreign firm are also confronted with the risks such as lack of control, poor security data, impact on firms’ culture and risk in quality service. Thus, interviewees’ suggested that in order to use accounting outsourcing successfully, foreign enterprise needs to find suitable ways, proper roadmaps, and comprehensive solutions for enterprises. Recommendations for future research to expand the scope of this study are also identified.
