However, little is known about their mental health literacy ( MHL ). which refers to individuals ' knowledge and beliefs about mental disorders that aid their recognition, management , and prevention ( Anthony F Jorm , 2000 ). Objectives: To explore students ' ability to recognize anxiety disorder and depression symptoms , and their literacy of first - aid to support for these problems. Methods: This study used a mixed - method cross - sectional design and implemented in two universities: University of Social Sciences and Humanities ( USSH ) and Academy of Journalism and Communication ( AJC ). Sample size of the quantitative component was 724 undergraduate students. Qualitative information was collected from four focus group discussions with students . Questionnaire on literacy of anxiety disorder and depression was adapted from the Australian National Survey of Mental Health Literacy and Stigma ( Anthony F. Jorm , 2011 ) and was permitted by Jorm to use for this study . Question topics included recognition of the problems and first - aid support .
