The paper deals with some problems concerning the Japanese occupation in Vietnam during the Second World War. Firstly the paper gives a general introduction on the relationship between Japan and the French Indochina, especially her relation to the Vietnamese nationalist movement before the Second World War. This brief historical survey is basically important to understand not only the policy of Japan towards Indochina, but also the attitude of Vietnamese towards the war propaganda of the Japanese. The second part of the paper concentrates to analyze the main characteristics of the Japanese - French collaboration and co - ruling in Vietnam. It is necessary to point out that the collaboration and the co - ruling of the Japanese with the French in Vietnam is the most important feature of the Japanese policy towards the French Indochina.
