Summary: | The purpose of this study was to find out whether Project e-Localized will enhance the level of reading comprehension in Filipino among Grade 3 students’ section Masunurin of Villa Perez Elementary School. The researcher utilized the Philippine Informal Reading Inventory (Phil-Iri) passage provided by the Department of Education in the pre-test and post-test to determine the level of reading comprehension in Filipino of Grade three pupils. The criteria in choosing the respondents were grade three pupils and identified as learners with difficulty in reading comprehension in Filipino based on the pre-test/Phil-Iri. During the intervention proper, the researcher developed e-Books (electronic books) and printed localized reading materials that were applicable to the learning modality of every pupils. This could be of great help for them to enhance their reading comprehension due its interactive features, familiarity with the topic, language and the story were relevant to their daily living. Since Filipino is the native language spoken in the area, the content of localized reading books was written in that language. This study utilized the quantitative method of research using a quasi-experimental design. The researcher statistically analyzed the pre-test and a post-test result to determine the significant difference in the level of reading comprehension in Filipino before and after the utilization of the Project e-Localized. Purposive sampling was used by the researcher composing of thirty-eight (38) Grade 3 pupils as the respondents. The statistical tools used were Mean Percentage Score and t-test. The study revealed a considerable improvement in reading comprehension among pupils after the implementation of Project e-Localized. The pretest mean percentage score (MPS), initially categorized as "good" through descriptive analysis, increased to an "excellent" level in the posttest. A substantial difference was observed, supported by a t-test value that surpassed the critical t-value. With degrees of freedom at a 0.05 significance level, the results indicate a significant difference, leading to the rejection of the null hypothesis. This suggests that the adoption of Project e-Localized significantly contributed to the enhancement of pupils' reading comprehension in Filipino. |
