Description
Summary:This study focused on identifying the challenges that traditional student artists face during the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as finding ways to help them overcome those challenges. It aimed to understand their experiences and the challenges seen in art production during the pandemic. A phenomenological research design was used in order to understand the participants’ experiences of art production during the pandemic from their perspective. The researchers executed this by creating interview questions related to the research question, purposely selecting 10 traditional student artists, and conducting interviews with them following the interview protocol. The researchers analyzed their results by creating codes from the transcripts of the interviews and deriving themes from them. The findings of this study showed how traditional student artists see the pandemic as an obstacle to artistic progress, but also recognize the opportunities that it provides for artistic development. Moreover, this research also analyzed the participants’ solutions to their challenges and proposed more perspectives and variables for future research.
