Literature, processes, and artwork where analyzed through a post-colonial lens. The researcher used genre mashups that included pop and rock for its art production procedure and its implication in postcolonialism. Additionally, this research aims to understand the emotions in pop and rock protest music and the viewpoints of the youth, and the artists that produced these kinds of music during the 2020s. Lastly, thematic analyses were done based on the in 2020s pop and rock protest songs, and a interview based on the musical experiences and perspectives participants’ have on protest music and the political state of the Philippines.
