Description
Summary:As modernization rapidly grows in the Philippines, the transport sector continuously produces innovations to keep up with this trend and one inclusion is the global positioning system (GPS) on mobile phones to track the vehicle's current location. Even so, the occurrence of emergencies on road which may vary depending on the situation is still possible. However, due to such technology, the development of an application that can provide help in case of any on-road emergencies is made easier. This study aims to develop a GPS-based emergency mobile application that can locate the nearest establishment that will cater to driver's on-road emergency needs, and be able to provide access to information regarding the establishment including its location details. In addition, the travel time data for all the links were collected using the floating car technique and presented using speed distribution curves, wherein a certain range from the mean for all the road classification and time period served as the traffic data for the application. Once the application was developed, feedback from the users were collected to serve as benchmark for the improvement of the application. The users will be Filipino citizens. To accomplish the application, preliminary surveys were done to determine the need of the said application furthermore, the survey also led to the determination of the type of establishments to be inventoried, as well as the preferred features that users deemed to be significant in the usage of the proposed application.
