Summary:A laboratory scale trickling filter employing fresh bamboos as filter medium used to treat the industrial waste water from the California Manufacturing Company. The bamboos are cut into the appropriate dimensions based on filter medium specifications and characteristics required, and are arranged at random. The test parameters (BOD, COD, PH and temperature) were measured for each trial run. The filter efficiency was analyzed based on the BOD and COD removals of the original waste water.The experimental investigations attained the highest percentage removal of BOD of 64.29 percent for run number 1, 63.03 percent for run number 2, 61.26 percent for run number 3 and 58.18 percent for run number 4. For the percentage removal of COD, the highest attained was 43.4 percent for run number 2, 39.8 percent for run number 1, 38.5 percent for run number 3, and 36.5 percent for run number 4.
