An optical time domain reflectometer

It is very evident that fiber optics technology is one of the fastest growing technology today. This paper presents the significance of an Optical Time Domain Reflectometer (OTDR) in the existing fiber technology. It contains a brief background on how the existing OTDR operates. Parado, Ben-John Magno D. It is very evident that fiber optics technology is one of the fastest growing technology today. This paper presents the significance of an Optical Time Domain Reflectometer (OTDR) in the existing fiber technology. It contains a brief background on how the existing OTDR operates. It discusses the theories and principles behind the OTDR operation. In the construction of an alternative OTDR, parameters of the light source, beam splitter and the optical receiver were considered. The light source includes a laser diode and a driver circuit. The wavelength of the laser diode is set to a certain value which should be compatible to that of the beam splitter and the optical receiver. Likewise, the optical receiver consists of a photodiode and an amplifier. Lastly, the material presents the importance of an alternative OTDR specifically for laboratory use. 1997-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/9439 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Optical communications Reflectometer Time domain analysis Fiber optics Analog-to-digital converters
