Evaluation of the reliability and internal structure of Johnson's IPIP 120-item: Personality scale

Johnson's IPIP has claimed to measure the Five Factor Model of Personality. The Five Factor Model of Personality in recent studies has shown poor to moderate fit. This study focuses on the internal consistency and the internal structure of the instrument, to see if it in fact measure the Five Factor Model. It also serves to look for possible strengths and weaknesses of the Johnson's IPIP. The participants of this study were 326 college students from different universities from the Philippines. Results showed that the Johnsons's IPIP still should be looked into, since the internal consistency of some subscales were below the ideal reliability coefficient of 0.70. For the internal structure of the instrument, some of the subscales loaded on different domains.
