Sacaben, Ma. Lourdes I. Phytoplankton collection was done by obtaining water samples from different areas along Balayan Bay from the town of Balayan to Lemery for a period of three months (January to March, 1992).The phytoplankton were found to belong to four divisions, four classes, seven orders, twenty families, thirty-six genera and one hundred four species. Division Chrysophyta (diatoms) was represented by Bacteriastum spp., Biddulphia spp., Chaetoceros spp., Coscinodiscus spp., Rhizosolenia spp., Nitzschia spp., and Campylodiscus spp., Division Cyanophyta was represented by Lyngbya spp., and Oscillatoria spp Division Chlorophyta was represented by Pediastrum spp., Closterium spp., and Pleurotaenium spp. and Division Pyrrophyta was represented by Ceratium spp., and Peridinium spp.The most dominant and abundant species belonged to the genera Bacteriastrum, Chaetoceros, and Rhizosolenia. This is due to their presence in at least one station per month of collection. Keys and illustrations of Crosby (1958), Wood (1959, 1963), Newell and Newell (1963), Yamaji (1977), Pantastico (1977), and Relon (1985) were used in the identification and classification of phytoplankton down to the species level. 1992-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/9627 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Phytoplankton--Research Marine flora--Batangas Biology--Classification xx1 Marine flora
