The effects of different concentrations of malathion on the different growth stages of Vigna sp.

The effects of spraying different levels of malathion on certain morphological and chemical characteristics of the leaf of Vigna sp. (bush sitao) at different stages of growth were investigated. During the vegetative, flowering, and fruiting stages, sprayed plants exhibited greater number of leaves...

Gensolin, Keith Brian O. Ocampo, Carissa Reyes, Bryan Patrick T. The effects of spraying different levels of malathion on certain morphological and chemical characteristics of the leaf of Vigna sp. (bush sitao) at different stages of growth were investigated. During the vegetative, flowering, and fruiting stages, sprayed plants exhibited greater number of leaves (units), surface area per leaf (sq. cm.), and shoot-root ratio than that of unsprayed plants. However, malathion spraying did not significantly affect these morphological parameters based on the One-way Analysis of Variance at 5 percent level of significance. On the other hand, the protein, sugar, and starch contents in the leaves were significantly affected by malathion spraying based on One-way ANOVA. The unsprayed plants had the highest leaf protein (ug/mg leaf sample), and sugar (percent leaf dry weight) contents while the starch content (percent leaf dry weight) was lower than that of the sprayed plants. Leaf sugar content in the sprayed plants increased together with the malathion concentration while leaf starch resulted otherwise. 1995-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/9641 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Plant physiology Growth (Plants) Pesticides Legumes
